Music should be an outlet and a way to connect with others and with our own emotions. By incorporating both traditional and contemporary music education methods, it is my goal to make music fun for children and adults of any age and stage.
Biography
Grace Rios graduated with a Master of Arts in Church Music with an emphasis in keyboard studies from Mercer University. Prior to her attendance at Mercer University she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Carson Newman University with a degree in Music Education. During her time as an undergraduate she was given many enriching opportunities, serving as the accompanist for Carson Newman’s men’s choir and later the accompanist for the audition only A Cappella College choir. She also worked with the children’s music program at West Hills Baptist Church in Knoxville. These experiences not only helped further her studies in piano and organ, but also helped her to realize her passion for teaching and inspiring children with music.
During her time as a graduate student at Mercer University, she accompanied Mercer University Children’s Choir. This furthered her desire to teach and instruct children. After completing her graduate degree, Grace was offered a position as the Choir Director at Mount De Sales Academy in Macon, Georgia. Throughout her time at Mount De Sales she taught middle and high school choir and group piano lessons and was the musical director for the high school musicals. Her enthusiasm for music and education continued to flourish as she was daily able to interact and teach students about the joys of music. In addition to her job at Mount De Sales, Grace often plays for events such as weddings and funerals, and teaches piano lessons to children and adults of all ages.
